Video: Using Kubernetes on AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)

Kirk Kalvar AWS Meetup

In this video from the Columbia AWS Meetup held on October 17, 2019, Kirk Kalvar from KAL Technologies shows us how to create an AWS EKS cluster and deploy a simple web application with an external load balancer.

Kubernetes is a lightweight container orchestration technology for managing containerized workloads and services. Kirk shows us how to build on CloudFormation scripts that AWS provides to fully automate the creation of the EKS cluster. He also shows us how to use cloud-init and some basic shell scripts to configure an EC2 instance with kubectl and configure it to talk to the cluster.
