We are excited to announce the release of StorageLink v1.1.1, packed with new features, improvements, and critical bug fixes to enhance your experience and bolster the security of your file transfer solution.
StorageLink is a web-based file transfer solution that connects users to cloud storage locations like Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, and Google Cloud Storage. It provides an easy-to-use admin dashboard and allows you to customize your portal with your logo and branding.
Here’s a deep dive into what’s new in this release.
Critical Feature Updates in StorageLink v1.1.1
1. Configurable Admin Access
One of the most anticipated features in StorageLink v1.1.1 is the ability to turn off admin login and access on a server. This is particularly useful for creating public-facing servers where admin access needs to be restricted for security reasons. System admins can deploy a secondary instance locked down by IP address or behind a VPN connection to access the Admin Dashboard.
2. AWS Base Image Upgrade
We have upgraded our AWS base image from Amazon Linux 2 to Amazon Linux 2023. This update brings numerous performance improvements, better security, and access to Amazon Linux 2023’s latest features and patches.
3. AWS IMDSv2 Support
StorageLink v1.1.1 fully supports and requires AWS Instance Metadata Service Version 2 (IMDSv2). IMDSv2 provides enhanced security for your AWS instances by requiring session-based tokens, making it more resilient against various metadata service vulnerabilities. This update underscores our commitment to providing a secure environment for your data and applications.
4. File Upload Improvements
In response to user feedback, we have addressed a common issue related to file uploads. Previously, uploading a file with an extension followed by uploading a file with the same name but without an extension was problematic. With StorageLink v1.1.1, this issue has been resolved, allowing for seamless file management and upload operations.
5. Restricted API Access:
We have fixed an issue that prevented access to some restricted APIs. This fix ensures that all intended functionalities are accessible and operational, improving the user experience.
How to upgrade to StorageLink v1.1.1
We encourage all users to upgrade to this latest version to take advantage of the new features, performance improvements, and security enhancements.
