2016 is going to be big for Thorn Technologies. We’re expanding our team, moving to a new office, and working on interesting products. Here’s what we have in store.

Running lean

Since our inception in 2008, Thorn Technologies has always been a lean company. I ran the company by myself for the first three years and didn’t hire my first employee until 2011.

We certainly could have hired more full-time employees along the way. Instead, to keep overhead low and stay nimble, we’ve built a strong network of developers and designers who help us execute some of the most interesting and impactful mobile, web, and enterprise software development projects.

(If you’re interested in working with us, email us at info@thorntech.com, we’d love to chat!)

With this lean structure, we’ve been able to build great products for Fortune 500 companies and small startups alike. And we’ve grown revenues at rates of 30-60% annually.

But there comes a time when you need to kick it into high gear. We believe now is the time.

Growing the team

In March, we brought on a full-time iOS developer, Robert Chen, to join the company, which consisted of me, developer extraordinaire Dan Rusk, and our amazing team working for Sprint, led by Kara Atkinson.

Now we’re happy to announce that Mike Chan will be joining us full-time starting in 2016 and will be a member of the Thorn Technologies executive team.

We’ve been working with Mike, an entrepreneur, startup guy, and marketing consultant, on a part-time basis over the last couple of years.

Mike has helped us increase our lead generation, content marketing, and social media efforts, and has closed a few deals for us working only a few hours per week. We’ve also been working together on building products, of which ribl is one.

In addition to his existing marketing and business development responsibilities, he will also work on hiring, budgeting, and other management projects.

We believe that having a resource fully dedicated to the business side of Thorn Technologies will help accelerate our company’s growth, and Mike is the perfect person to do it.

What’s next

2016 will be a very exciting year for us.

We’re moving into a brand new office that’s being renovated right now.

We’re planning a website redesign, so keep your eye out for our new look.

With our forecasted revenue growth, we expect to hire up to three additional employees to join the Thorn Technologies team.

And while we’ll continue to build great custom software for our clients, we are also developing some very interesting products that we plan to take to market.

2016 is going to be a very big year indeed, and we hope you’ll come along with us for the ride!
