Thorn Technologies assists Howard County Library System in developing new responsive website
Howard County Library System (HCLS) recently launched their newly redesigned website with the help of Thorn Technologies.
Realizing that members of its community increasingly access its website on smartphones and tablets, HCLS engaged Thorn Technologies to develop a responsive website that can be easily viewed on any screen size or device. HCLS also desired a more modern look and feel for the site.
Thorn Technologies used WordPress, the popular content management system, to build the new website. A custom responsive theme was developed to ensure a user-friendly viewing experience on any device.
Thorn Technologies also created a custom WordPress Post Type that represents a single bibliographic record that allows HCLS to easily create website pages specifically dedicated to each book, DVD, CD, and any other title in their database. This Post Type also allows HCLS to simply and automatically generate custom lists and categories, such as New Releases, Best Sellers, and more.
Thorn Technologies imported over 700 pages of content from HCLS’s old content management system and integrated the new website with third-party back-end systems to ensure the data on the site is accurate and updated.
